One of the hardest things to come to grips with, whether you own your business or work for someone else, is that the tax collector is faithfully standing at the door wanting to be paid. The IRS wants its money when you make it. And the more you make, the more it takes from you. And that’s what we should expect.

THE TRUTH: “Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor; then honor” (Romans 13:7 NIV).

Rusty’s story isn’t unusual. Just when we think we’re getting ahead with our business…or we get a raise…or a bonus, our joy is shattered by the tax bill. Sadly, we always seem to realize we’ve jumped up in tax brackets after we’ve spent our newfound money.
